I have been taking Hydroxycut and notice some hair loss. I noticed that I am not the only one. I just recently stopped taking it. Will the hair grow back?
Hydroxycut is a “nutraceutical”, which is a term coined from the combining of “nutrition” and “pharmaceutical”. It is advertised to increase metabolism, with the ultimate goal of impacting body weight. I haven’t read any official reports that Hydroxycut is associated with hair loss, though. With severe weight loss, hair loss is not uncommon. Getting your diet into better shape is the best thing you can do.
I started using Hydroxycut Max for Women a few weeks ago. I used it for about 2 weeks and then began noticing exceptionally large amounts of hair loss. While taking it, I felt a lot more energy and a general sense of well-being, as well as a raised libido… I actually loved it until my hair started falling out. I quit using the product immediately and have been off it for almost 2 weeks, but I am still losing hair at the same rate. I was blessed with an abnormally full head of hair, but it has dwindled to about half what it was before. While this may be a “normal” amount for some people is beside the point… it’s not normal for me, and is extremely distressing. My father had baldness issues for most of his life, but there’s very little of it on my mother’s side, and neither she nor my grandmother had baldness issues. I’ve purchased vitamin supplements to help stop the excessive hair loss and am hoping the hair grows back. I am extremely upset that Hydroxycut doesn’t have this listed as a side effect on the bottle. This information would have very helpful in my decision – I wouldn’t have purchased Hydroxycut. I NEVER thought that I would be dealing with hair loss, and I am now so preoccupied with it that it takes up every waking moment. I avoid showers because that’s where the majority of the hair loss happens – in clumps. I took one this morning and I was shaking and in tears about how much hair came off my head, and I even brush my hair thoroughly before showering. I don’t understand how they can omit a side effect like this.
I saw Holly’s comment dated June 6, 2008. I have experienced the same situation as she did. I want to know how long did it take for her hair to grow back. Also, did it grow back to what it was before the incident?
I have experienced the exact thing as Holly. I even had blood work done to see if I had thyroid issues. Everything came back normal and I still had this unexplained hairloss. Does it ever grow back and be normal??
I took an entire bottle of hydroxycut and I noticed that my hair also started falling off. Its been 2 months and my hair is still falling off. I looked into it being several things and I Switched shampoo and conditioners to those sold at healthfood stores. It’s still falling. I’ll wait and see what happens.

I wish I would have seen these posts before I tried the new HydroxyCut in 02/2010. I took about half a bottle and I noticed the top of my head hurt and then my hair started falling out and I stopped taking it. I was blessed with a lot of hair to start with but now I can see my scalp easily in the front. It is very distressing. I don’t think it is falling out as much as it did but it hasn’t grown back either. I think the product must put a lot of stress on the body and that causes the hair loss. I hope that the hair follicles have not been damaged.
I first started taking hydroxycut at the age of 18 everything seemed fine. I took it for about a year on and off never had any problems. Several months after I was no longer taking hydroxycut I noticed bald spots I didn’t think much of it. Now I have several doctor visits all I know is that I have alopecia and none of my doctors are able to tell me why. I have been prescribed steroid gels to apply to the individual bald spots, they didn’t help. Lately I found a vitamin called Biotin 5K MG in six months f taking this pill my hair is thicker and healthy although I still have several bald spots I see light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have my hair back. CVS pharmacy biotin over the counter only buy in 5K MG
I first started taking hydroxycut max for woman, and within the first week noticed a significant amount of hair loss. I”m an african american woman, who attends the hair salon, regularly for treatment, to ensure a consistent quality of hair care, since I wear a short style. Nothing excessive, same treatment as normal, which has strenghtened my hair over the years. I take the supplement 3 to 4 times a week, and each week I notice more hair loss. I’m devistated, especially since I wear a short cropped hairstyle. I’m now forced to wear hair extensions that I”m not happy about! I cry each night! Prior to taking this supplement, I’ve maintained a head full of healthy hair. I’m going to CVS to purchase biotine 5k mg, which Will suggested in hopes to regrowing my once healthy mane!
I am an african american woman that has been using hydroxycut max for women for almost a month now. Although it helps with weight loss, it helps you to lose hair as well. I have been forced to cut my hair very low and wear it naturally in hopes of it growing back.

It was a little at first so I didn’t really notice it but I really noticed it the last time I took a shower (and I will say I wasn’t taking anything else, no meds or over counter meds) I lost more than half my head of hair and was so upset I had to use 2 treatments of my inhaler. For an apostolic black woman who believes her hair is her glory (and I had long thick hair) and doesn’t even trim the hair I was devestated. People came up to me and asked if I had finally cut my hair. I am still in tears. Please someone tell me it will grow back. I really dislike having thin broken hair and some bald spots. This company should compensate us so that we can find ways to get back our hair our glory, and dignity back.

at age 33 i weighed 360lbs and had enough. i began a crazy diet in which i reduced my caloric intake to around 1200 a day, walked 3 miles per day, and took 2 hydroxycut tablets 3 times a day. after a few weeks i noticed my hair thinning. i ceased use of hydroxycut, and also increased my intake of protein since i realized i was eating very little at the time. after a while, a matter of a couple of months, my hair did begin to grow back and thicken back to normal. i continued to lose weight without hydroxycut, eating better, and over the course of 12 months dropped to about 210lbs, with a full head of hair. my advice, if you’re working to lose weight, limit your use of hydroxycut, or better yet don’t use it at all. eat healthy, exercize regularly, and be sure to eat enough protein.

OMG my is GONE.I have hair issues anyway but in the course of 2 months half of my hair is gone. i was asked a co worker if i was sick with cancer.! I WOULD HAVE NEVER, EVER looked at the bottle much less purchased this product. I mean seriously the side effect is hair loss. Is not the idea of loosing weight healthly appearence and self esteme? The company is wrong. I am going to take photos and post them for all to see. NO more,stop buying Any hydroxy cutt product.
I just finished a bottle of that stuff and noticed my hair is thinning! Everytime I run my fingers through my hair, strands keep falling off! My scalp is dry and itches and it hurts! Im so used to having thick hair and now I dont even look the same! I pray that my hair will grow back!
awhile ago .. I took Hydroxycut Max and I experienced hair loss. I lose a quarter sized patch of hair in the front of my head. I went to my physician.. and he recommended I go to a dermatologist. The dermatologist ran blood tests and everything came back normal. After 2-4 months of the steroid treatment on my hair grew back in full. My mother said that when i was younger I had alopecia. I think the hairloss is a result of a vitamin deficiency along with the hydroxycut. I’m just guessing this since most people don’t experience hairloss along with the drug. It could also be a change in the formula in hydroxy cut. Because a year before I had this experience, I took hyrdoxycut for about 6 months and didnt experience hairloss. but, If you have experienced hairloss after taking hydroxycut I’m pretty sure your hair will grow back with steroid treatment…you just have to be patient. I was freaking out after my first months treatment but my doctor reassured me and she was right.
I WISHHHH I would have seen this before ever taking that horrid Hydroxycut. I began taking it winter of 2011 off and on. Maybe about two and a half bottles total. Summer of 2012 was spent in the gym, then the dermatologists office. I was getting steroid shots in my scalp that helped but didn’t put an end to my issue. I then got a biopsy on my scalp and was diagnosed with Alopecia. Talk about devastation!
My hair was growing back beautifully after about 8 months. I took Hydroxycut three times in the past two weeks and it is happening again.STOP USING THIS PRODUCT!!! We are beautiful and can use another alternative than weightloss pills. Change your diet and exercise regularly. You will achieve the body you desire with hard work.

i also experience hair lost while using the product, big chunks of bald spots, i immediately stopped and saw a dermatologist who told me to stop using the product. he gave me steroids injections in the area my hair has grown back.
OMG, I also wish i had read this before, I keep reading everyone’s comments and it seems we all share the exact same problem. I already had very thin hair to begin with and Im already more than half way off the bottle and i have noticed a significant increase in hair loss. i can see my scalp in areas in the front and top, where I am sure i didnt see before, i barely need to brush my hair any more as theres so little to brush. I wasnt even taking the exact daily recommended dose to begin with.Like the rest of you, im afraid I will just keep losing more hair even after I have stopped. I hope it grows back. I do take biotin daily, i hope it helps. I never thought i had to run to cvs to get Rogaine, i just used to joke about it, but now i will seriously do it
WOW, This is crazy. I hate to go outside cause when the wind blows it shows this BIG BOLD SPOT in the back of my head and i can feel my hair just falling out and I no longer sit up front for church i been sitting on the back roll so the people behind me now want see my BALD SPOTS. Im also an African American Women who goes to the hair salon every two weeks this lady has been taking care of my hair for 4 years and she just couldn’t understand what was going on with my hair. At first we though it was STRESS with us trying to buy a home. BUT THAT WAS’NT IT. I have read all 20 comments and I’m 21 and I have had each and every symptoms. They talk about WARNING SIGNS YOUR KIDNEY, YOUR HEART, MOOD SWINGS, but nothing about hair lost. So if there’s a lawyer out there who thinks we have a case PLEASE PLEASE let me know..

OMG! I have been agonizing about my hair loss all summer. I have always had healthy, beautiful hair. About 3 months before my son’s wedding I decided that I needed a safe weight loss system. I used Hydroxycut Gummies. Lost some weight & looked great for the special event in May. Shortly afterwards I noticed an immense hair loss. Blamed it on everything from stress to my hairdresser. Reading this confirms my worst suspicions about this product. It makes me sick to think that I allowed myself to fall victim to this snake oil potion. I’ve been doing everything from vitamins to hair products to strengthen my hair. Hopefully, I stopped soon enough & with time this hair loss can be reversed. How did we all get here and where is the FDA? This product is clearly a consumer nightmare and probably a serious health risk too. Thank you all for sharing your experiences.
I bought a bottle of this product while on vacation in America and brought it back with me to Brazil. My husband and I shared it and I guess we took a pill a day for two or three weeks! I have the feeling that my hair had died… it has no life in it anymore!!! I went to the hair dresser and he said my hair had changed so much in less than a month… it looked burned and so dry! It´s falling off so much, it´s terrible! I have to vaccum my whole house twice a day! I feel like I´m gonna go bald! So now I´ve been taking two suplements for hair loss and I´ve been doing everything to recover its life! I really hope it will stop falling off!!!! Let us pray, really!
I was also taking hydroxycut and noticed extreme hair loss. It looked awful because it was falling out around my forehead. I have been taking biotin 5000 mg and a prenatal vitamin every day (my Dr. Recommend this) it has helped a lot and my hair is growing back and growing faster. For those of you who have experienced this as well I highly recommend those 2 vitamins taken together. Good luck to all of you and hope we will all have our thick hair back.
I’m getting married in December. After losing 15lbs on my own between January and March I hit a plateau and took hydroxycut (1 pill a day for 2-3 weeks) to get beyond it. I just noticed a half-dollar sized patch of missing hair toward the back of my head. I can’t imagine the results if I had taken as the bottle directed. I’m shocked at these results in such a short period of time.
If anyone reads this and has had their hair grow back please post how long it took and if you took any additional steps to help it along.
