ok, so 3 years ago I lost a large patch of hair from my chin, over the next 2 months it grew back stark white. I had to dye it with “justformen” for a year, finally it has began to grow in black. I feel this occurred form stress. is there a name for a condition such as this?

This is the first time I’ve heard of a case like this, so unfortunately I don’t have any experience to base any conclusions. Discuss this with your dermatologist.

Hair loss has nothing to do with nutrition and this man proves it.

Weight loss doesn’t mean starvation. This man likely had achieved a good balance with fewer calories than he usually took and kept good nutrition. It is wrong to think that because this man didn’t lose his hair, others may not have been well managed during the weight loss routine. Also, this man most likely didn’t have the genes for genetic alopecia, which might have precipitated hair loss.

Before considering a hair transplant you might want to be evaluated by a dermatologist, possibly getting a biopsy to be sure that the cause of this loss will not also impact any eyebrow hair transplant. The loss of the lateral eyebrow is often a target for a variety of skin and autoimmune disorders. I would need to see your entire hairline looking for problems there as well, such as a loss of vellus hairs in the frontal hairline.

This is a 60 year old male who is a patient of mine who I had not seen for 5 years. Over the past 5 years, his neck hair has significantly reduced as shown in the attached photo. I have told most of my patients to never harvest neck hair for two reasons: (1) it does not last their lifetime compared to regular scalp hair and (2) it leaves terrible scars. A female had a hair line advancement surgery, then she lost her hair behind the advanced hairline. The scar from the hair line advancement is shown above. The black line is where she now wants the hair line to be placed, so that it hides the scar from the previous surgery. Hair loss, a known complication of this type of surgery produces (1) further recession of the hair line, (2) visualization of the scar from the surgical incision, and (3) often more corner hair loss, not uncommon in women who have facial surgery or just age. The treatment for this is a hair transplant which can cover the scar, restore a normal hairline, and fill in the corners to make a perfect feminine concave hairline.

 

This is a scarred scalp and it will have to be evaluated by a hair surgeon to find out if this should be transplanted or treated in other ways. The wounds still look fresh and I would want to see everything healed before making recommendations for a hair transplant or other treatment modalities

This is not an uncommon finding in females. Minoxidil may work but when my wife went on it, she developed facial hair and then immediately stopped it and went the surgery route, Many women will lose these corners and develop a more male like hairline once the hair in these areas disappears. You have also lost your temple peaks which makes the female hairline a female hairline (concave in shape). We transplant these all of the time and the results have been very satisfactory. So I am thinning fast on only one side of my head, a direct line in the middle of my head from the back of my neck to my forehead separates normal hair to thinning short hair, it’s actually messed up. I am 21 and have had nice thick hair my whole life until I noticed this last year. I went out and bought, nizoral shampoo and castor oil today and even just rubbing the castor oil mixture in there were tons of hairs covering my hand like im shedding (Again only on that one side of my head) nothing falls out on the other side when I message it. I want to know if ANY of you have seen any positive results from Minoxidi or rogaine. I’m not desperate enough to get my doctor to give me Fin I personally like my hair but due to the fact I need my dick to work and so does my girlfriend the side effects threw me off.
