Can Propecia Cause Lower Blood Platelet Counts?

Can propecia cause platelets in the blood to lower. My platelet count was 125 and my doctor said its not anything to worry about. I know the normal range is 150-450.

please help doctor

I would listen to your doctor. I do not believe Propecia has anything to do with low platelet counts, but I did find a case report from 2002 in the medical literature that mentioned it. I haven’t seen more cases mentioned in the 12 years following the report, so I’d expect if finasteride does cause low platelet counts, then it is very rare.

Can response to finasteride be predicgted?

Is there a way to predict if you are going to respond or not? Like are there any patterns of hair loss that Finasteride significantly does not work for?

Not everyone responds to finasteride. You may not be a responder; however, if you are going to take it, stay on a regular routine and do it for at least a full year. Privately, I have been told that a new test will soon be available that will tell who will and who will not respond to this drug.

I Can See Though My Donor Area Since I Had 4400 FUE Grafts 1 Year Ago. It Now Appears More like the Balding Did Before I Had the Surgery (Photo)

The more FUE grafts that are taken from the donor area, the more see-through the donor area is. This is what happens when more doctors and people push the FUE to greater and greater numbers; more balding appears in the donor area. Your history of 4,400 grafts suggests that your donor density was low, which would create this problem.

No Hair Loss – Should I Be Taking Finasteride?

Hey Dr Rassman! I’m approaching 23 years old, and have experienced some thinning at the temple area, and also some receding of my hair line. Although i guess this could be my hairline maturing, i’ve bought some folligen cream, Nizioral shampoo, and some proscar as a precaution. Are these products still safe to taken, even though i might not actually be experiencing any irregular hair loss? Just thought i would nip it in the bud so to speak! Thanks for your time!

First of all, you need a proper diagnosis and that requires a good doctor to assess miniaturization of your scalp. Do not assume anything. Your hair is too important to play Russian Roulette with. You should first know what is happening to you, then discuss the options with a good doctor. Taking Proscar without knowing what is going in is a mistake.

Can this be ED?

I’ve been noticing so far that for the past 6 months while on fin my erections have been getting less hard. is this normal or has anyone else experienced this?

2-4% of men taking finasteride will experience some level of ED. The options could be to reduce your dose to half of a quarter of the dose and continue it for 6 weeks at the lower dose, increase it gradually but stop at taking one pill every other day (half the dose is 80% as effective). Alternative number 2, stop the drug

Not Hair Loss News – Alzheimer’s Disease Found Much More in Women Than Men

We now know that there is a gene that contributed to Alzheimer Disease. It is called ApoE4 and is found roughly in 15% of the population. Although males carrying the gene are only slightly more likely to get the disease, women had a 180% increase in the incidence of those carrying the gene. The gender specific nature has not been explained. Why am I writing this for a Hair Loss Blog is because we all have parents and you might find that this information becomes valuable if your parents are over 60 year old.
